This is exactly what I did. Six weeks, done. Now it's your turn.
Why I built this
I spent two months memorizing word lists and reading the KNM book cover to cover. Then I took a mock exam and bombed it — most of what I studied wasn't even on the test.
So I changed strategy: I focused only on what the exam actually tests, practiced writing and speaking every day, and passed all parts in six weeks.
This app does the same thing — it gives you writing, speaking, and KNM exercises based on what actually shows up on the exam.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Dutch inburgering exam? +
The inburgering exam is a mandatory integration test for most non-EU immigrants in the Netherlands. It consists of several parts: Lezen (reading), Luisteren (listening), Schrijven (writing), Spreken (speaking), and KNM (Knowledge of Dutch Society). You need to pass all parts at A2 level. Some newcomers under the Wet inburgering 2021 are required to reach B1 level (Staatsexamen NT2) depending on their learning route.
What is the difference between the A2 and B1 inburgering exam? +
A2 is the standard inburgering exam level — basic Dutch for daily life. B1 (Staatsexamen NT2) is a higher level required for some learning routes, permanent residence, or Dutch citizenship. Inburgering Coach covers both levels for writing and speaking, so you can practice at whichever level you need.
Can I prepare for the inburgering exam without a course? +
Yes. Many people pass by practicing on their own. Inburgering Coach lets you practice writing and speaking at both A2 and B1 level with AI feedback, and study all 8 KNM topics with quizzes — all based on what actually appears on the exam.
How long does it take to prepare for the inburgering exam? +
It depends on your starting level, but many people with basic Dutch can prepare in 6 to 8 weeks by focusing on their gaps. The most efficient approach is to take mock exams first, identify what you don't know, and practice only those areas.
Is Inburgering Coach free? +
You can start for free — the free tier includes 5 writing levels with AI feedback, an introductory speaking level, and the complete KNM study guide. No credit card required. To unlock all 28 writing levels, all speaking levels, and unlimited practice, you can upgrade to Premium.
What is the KNM exam? +
KNM stands for Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij (Knowledge of Dutch Society). It's a multiple-choice exam covering 8 topics: healthcare, work and income, government, housing, education, politics, history and geography, and culture. You need to answer 40 questions correctly out of about 45.
